Whether you’re au natural or wearing a wig or hairpiece, your hairstyle is a personal reflection on you and your personality. Even so, hairstyles go through cycles – they become popular and then go out of style, only to pop back around a decade or so later.
Easy maintenance was the phrase of the year, with all of the top four favorite styles being haircuts that required little work to look good. Let’s take a look at what hairstyles dominated 2012.
The Pixie – The pixie cut made a comeback this past year in a big way. Not surprising, since it’s easy upkeep and low-maintenance factor made it such an easy cut to have.
Long Layers – Long layers have been in style for a few years now and are always a popular choice during the winter months. Easy to maintain, the long layers haircut can be worn up or down and is a great versatile style to wear.
Wavy Bob – Similar to the long layers – just shorter – the wavy bob is a fun take on the standard straight cut bob. Stars like Cameron Diaz wore this look with wavy, almost messy curls for a simple cut that needs little to no prep each morning.
Bangs – Sported by celebrities like Zooey Deschanel, bangs got a makeover this year as well. Whether it was a short, choppy style or long, wavy locks, bangs were a popular way to tie all types of hairstyles together this year.
