Summer is almost here, which means it’s time to prepare for warm weather, beach trips, and lots of sun. There’s a lot to plan for, such as switching out your wardrobe for your summer attire and getting in shape for the beach. But while you’re prepping for summer plans, don’t forget this one critical thing: your hair.

It may never have occurred to you to get your hair ready for summer, but saltwater, extreme heat, and chlorine can take its toll on your tresses. Here are four tips to prepare your hair for summer stress.
  1. Trim Dead Ends – Winter weather can also dry out hair, so prep for Summer by trimming off the dead ends. This will keep your hair healthy and looking great.
  1. Use Conditioner Regularly – Chlorine, sun, and saltwater can seriously damage your hair through sucking out all of the moisture. Keep your hair moisturized by regularly using conditioner, along with shampoo, when you wash your hair.
  1. Use Products with SPF Protection – Intense sunlight can also damage your strands. To combat this, it’s a good idea to switch to styling products that have SPF to protect against damaging sun rays.
  1. Skip the Hair Dryer – A few days a week, give your appliances the day off. Heating tools, like a hair dryer or flat iron, can dry out hair and make it frizzy. To help, let your hair air dry a few days a week to minimize heat damage.
